Jon featured on All Things Fresh
I can’t say that I’ve followed the career of Bambu very closely, but I’ve heard the name before & have always meant to check out his music. So recently when Jon Reyes posted up his remix of the LA rapper’s track Pull It Back, I decided to take a listen. Released off of his sophomore album I Scream Bars For Kids-which is a very dope title & has an equally dope cover-Pull It Back was released as a single & even had a video. Obviously, after downloading Jon’s remix, I had to go find the album version & compare them. Now, no offense to whoever produced the original joint but Jon’s shit blows it out of the water! The former has a very generic sounding beat that could of come straight off of Bay Slaps Vol.22 while the latter boasts the layered synth sounds & boom bap drums that Jon’s becoming known for.
Hm…I just checked [s.carter] the youtube [/s.carter] & it looks like there was an official remix….Jon’s beat owns that joint too.
People that know me know that I’m not quick to just give someone props just because they’re cool people (I had a classmate who rapped; after letting me hear his CD & asking for feedback I asked how good his GPA was because he needed a new plan A) but Jon Reyes has been on a tear recently. Aside from this remix, he put out one of the year’s best projects with Delorean’s No More Heroes EP…I can’t wait for this guy to get his beats out there with more MCs (Blee I see you!).
