The homie Jon Reyes, producer and beat mastermind behind Delorean music, hit me with this freshness earlier today. The bay is seriously coming out with hard hitters right now, and these guys are just one more solid reason why the world shouldn’t be sleeping on us. This is that conscious rap with a straight hip hop feel. I applaud artists who aren’t afraid to touch on topics of real substance in their music, and I celebrate directors/artists who make music videos with a real message. The definition of “real” in this context being anything that doesn’t involve flashing money, cars with spinners, and video hoes clapping their but cheeks for camera time. What you’re about to see, embodies both of those positives. I’ll let Jon do the rest of the talking.

Delorean and Faux Real Productions are proud to present the official music video for Delorean’s “Dear Langston”.

“Dear Langston” is the second single taken from Delorean’s debut album, No More Heroes.  Inspired by Langston Hughes’ timeless poem, “Dreams”, the song is chronicles emcee 5th Ave’s struggle to maintain his dreams amidst the realities of everyday life. 

The video is directed by Sami Abdou of Faux Real Productions and inspired by the works of artist Kehinde Wiley. ”The juxtaposition of regular, everyday folks in classical poses and bright colors is amazing and absolutely perfect for what I wanted to express with the video.” explains Abdou.  “Those are the same poses that you’d see in paintings like ‘George Washington Crossing the Delaware’ or in any Giovanni Battista Tiepolo painting - paintings that romanticize epic struggles.  Fighting for your dreams is one of the greatest struggles every human faces, and I felt 5th Ave captured that.”
